Founders Arena: Why Thinking Big Is Not Optional

Founders Arena by Envolve Entrepreneurship was one of those rare gatherings where competition fades and inspiration takes its place.

On June 16, 2026, founders, investors, mentors, and members of Greece’s innovation ecosystem gathered at Technopolis City of Athens for the third EnvolveXL Investors’ Day. The event brought 16 startups to the stage to present their ventures, ambitions, and growth plans.envolveglobal+1

It was not only a pitch event. It was a room full of people who had chosen the difficult path of building something from the ground up.

The reality behind the pitch

Alongside Alexandros Nousias, Konstantinos Kissas, Maria Gabriella Anagnostopoulou, Rosanna Mortoglou, and teams including Kiné Health, MyStudentFlat, Ovly, Pebole, Enervek, Scoopterra, AimaLabs, apla, Arcdot.ai, Cordella, FitKit, and Joberos, we spoke about what it really means to build a startup.

Behind every pitch deck are early mornings, late nights, difficult decisions, uncertain outcomes, and the constant decision to keep going when no one else is watching.

Entrepreneurship is often presented through milestones: funding rounds, product launches, awards, and growth metrics. These achievements matter, but they are only part of the story.

The less visible part is the resilience required to continue refining an idea, listening to criticism, rebuilding after setbacks, and believing in the value of a problem before the market fully recognises it.

Building SeriousMind

I am proud of the direction in which we are taking SeriousMind.

We are building an AI-powered serious-games platform at the intersection of artificial intelligence, psychology, psychometrics, and game design. Through experiences such as MindEscape, RealEscape, and NeuroEscape, we explore how gameplay can help reveal personality, behaviour, teamwork, cognitive patterns, and human potential.

Our applications extend across:

  • HR and recruitment.
  • Personality assessment.
  • Team building and organisational development.
  • Corporate training.
  • Education and vocational guidance.
  • Clinical and cognitive applications.

The journey from research to a scalable company is not simple. It requires scientific validation, product development, customer feedback, partnerships, mentoring, and a team capable of working through uncertainty.

Events such as Founders Arena help make that journey visible.

A strong Greek startup ecosystem

I was also proud to share the stage with founders and ecosystem leaders who demonstrate the quality and ambition of Greek entrepreneurship.

The Greek startup ecosystem is producing companies with international potential across health, education, artificial intelligence, energy, mobility, finance, and other sectors. These founders are not simply building businesses. They are creating jobs, developing new technologies, attracting investment, and showing that innovation from Greece can compete globally.

Founders Arena reflected this diversity. Different teams may be working on different problems, but they share the same underlying challenge: turning an idea into something that creates real value.

The people behind the journey

None of our progress would be possible without the people who support SeriousMind.

I am grateful to mentors and collaborators such as Professor Ioannis Vlahavas, Eleftherios Kouloubris, Pavlos Mavromatis, Dimitri Papaioannou, and Konstantinos Milleounis.

I am also thankful for the accelerators and innovation programmes that have supported our development, including egg – enter- grow- go, the Walk AUTh Innovation Accelerator, Envolve Entrepreneurship, and StartSmart South Eastern Europe.

These organisations provide more than visibility. They offer structure, feedback, mentorship, introductions, and access to communities that help founders move beyond the laboratory and into the market.

For research-driven startups such as SeriousMind, that support is especially important. Deep-tech products often require time, evidence, education, and persistence before their value becomes obvious to the market.

Thinking big is necessary

Founders Arena reminded me that thinking big is not optional.

Building a startup requires the courage to imagine a future that does not exist yet and the discipline to work toward it one decision at a time. It also requires the humility to learn, adapt, and accept that the original idea may need to change.

The people on that stage represented different sectors and different journeys, but they shared a common mindset: the willingness to build despite uncertainty.

That mindset is what moves ecosystems forward.

The best is yet to come

Founders Arena was not a conclusion. It was another step in a longer journey.

For SeriousMind, the work continues: developing AI-powered serious games, validating behavioural assessment methods, supporting HR and education, and building collaborations that can expand the impact of our research.

I am proud of where we are going, proud of the Greek ecosystem, and proud to share a stage with people who continue to prove that ambitious ideas deserve to be built.

The best is yet to come.

Keep building.
