Developers:Day by kariera.gr was a memorable opportunity for SeriousMind. Instead of speaking about the future of personality assessment in abstract terms, we gave developers and technology professionals something they could experience directly: printed personality reports generated from their own gameplay.
During the event, visitors played our serious games, including MindEscape and related interactive experiences. After completing the games, they received reports showing how their in-game decisions connected with personality traits and behavioural patterns.
The most rewarding part was seeing their reactions: curiosity, surprise, and often recognition.
“Yes, that sounds like me.”
That moment captures the essence of our play-to-reveal approach. It is one thing to explain how gameplay can generate behavioural insights. It is another to let people experience the process for themselves.
At SeriousMind, we develop AI-powered serious games that combine psychology, psychometrics, game design, and behavioural analysis.
In MindEscape, players enter immersive digital escape rooms and face challenges that require them to explore, plan, solve problems, make decisions, and respond to pressure. Their gameplay creates a behavioural profile that can complement traditional personality assessment methods.
The experience demonstrates how serious games can transform complex concepts into something concrete and accessible. Instead of only answering questions about how they usually behave, participants can observe how their choices and actions are interpreted within a structured game environment.
This does not mean that one game can define a person. Personality assessment requires careful design, appropriate interpretation, and responsible use of data. However, gameplay can offer an additional perspective—one based on behaviour rather than self-description alone.
Developers:Day was especially valuable because it placed SeriousMind in front of people who understand technology and are curious about how it can be applied to real human challenges.
For many visitors, the event was an opportunity to see how artificial intelligence and psychometrics can work together. Rather than presenting AI as an invisible or abstract system, we made its purpose tangible:
This process helped turn complex AI and personality assessment into an experience that people could understand, question, and use.
The same principle can support the future of HR and recruitment.
A CV shows a person’s experience. An interview reveals how they communicate in a particular setting. A serious game can provide additional information about how they approach a challenge, manage uncertainty, collaborate, plan, and respond under pressure.
For recruiters and organisations, game-based assessment can complement existing processes by offering insights into:
The purpose is not to replace recruiters or automate decisions without oversight. It is to help HR professionals build a richer understanding of candidates and employees.
I am grateful to Eugene Tsatsa, also known as Juxhin Caca, for the collaboration, and to Pavlos Mavromatis and Maria Fountouli for their support.
I would also like to express my special thanks to Professor Alexander Chatzigeorgiou for his kind words and for the thoughtful conversations about artificial intelligence.
Events such as Developers:Day remind us why we build these tools. Innovation matters most when people can experience it directly and understand how it may improve their lives, work, and development.
Personality assessment does not have to be limited to static questionnaires or short interviews. With responsible design, serious games can create engaging environments where people demonstrate how they think, act, collaborate, and solve problems.
At SeriousMind, we are working to make AI-powered personality assessment more immersive, behavioural, and human-centred. Through MindEscape and our other serious games, we aim to connect psychometrics with experiences that individuals and organisations can understand and trust.
Developers:Day showed us the value of making this vision tangible.
When people play, see their results, and recognise themselves in the patterns, assessment becomes more than a measurement. It becomes a conversation.
