Macedonian News: Artificial intelligence is changing vocational guidance.

The way artificial intelligence and video games can transform personality assessment and contribute to career guidance and job placement was the central theme of SeriousMind’s participation in the 90th Thessaloniki International Fair.

Speaking to Makedonika Nea, SeriousMind co-founder and CEO Giorgos Liapis explained how the company leverages artificial intelligence, video games, and digital escape rooms to collect data on player behavior and conduct personality assessments.

“We are students and PhD candidates from the Department of Informatics, and we are essentially transforming the way personality assessment is conducted using artificial intelligence, video games, and digital escape rooms,” he noted.

From Research to the Market

SeriousMind is a spin-off of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, founded by students and PhD candidates from the Department of Informatics. Its goal is to harness new technologies in a field that has traditionally relied on conventional assessment methods.

Through gameplay, the company collects behavioral data and subsequently performs personality assessments, aiming to utilize the results for career guidance and job placement processes. This approach seeks to combine technology with a more experiential method of assessment, transforming the game into a tool for collecting and analyzing data on user behavior.

“We honor Aristotle University and our region”

The CEO of SeriousMind placed special emphasis on the company’s relationship with Aristotle University (AUTH) and Thessaloniki, highlighting that their presence at the 90th TIF (Thessaloniki International Fair) marks a significant milestone for the company.

“We are delighted to be here; we honor our city, we honor our region, and we honor Aristotle University of Thessaloniki,” he stated.

The presence of an AUTH spin-off at the TIF also highlights the potential that arises when academic knowledge and research are transformed into innovative business applications.

“TIF gets better every year”

Speaking about this year’s event, Giorgos Liapis noted that the TIF is constantly evolving, much like Thessaloniki itself.

He pointed out that the city’s image is changing due to ongoing projects, while the high turnout at this year’s fair fosters a positive atmosphere.

“Just as the TIF improves and evolves every year, so too does Thessaloniki, thanks to all the projects currently underway,” he remarked. “We really see a lot of people; we are happy to be here, and it gets better every year,” he added.
